Jarmundi is a community development block that forms an administrative division in the Dumka Sadar subdivision of the Dumka district.

It is 40 km & 48km far away from Deoghar &  Dumka respectively.
Jarmundi is well connected with Basukinath,Ghormaraand and Sonaraythari Dumka through roads.
Jarmundi is also a good market for the local peoples of this block where they can buy almost all things of daily need.

According to 2011 census official data, the total number of literates in Jarmundi are 80,233 (58.06% of the population above 6 years) out of which 50,701 {63%} are males and 29,528 {37%} are females. The gender disparity (the difference between female and male literacy rates) is 26%
.Now people are getting more sensible than ever, and they are sending their children to school and are encouraging to study.And we know that the more educated and aware people are, the greater the chances of development of that place and society.
There are not too much private schools in Sonaraithari,and private school plays an important role in education.
